OneRepublic release new track 'Didn't I' and announce new album 'Human'
OneRepublic have released their latest single ‘Didn’t I’ and have confirmed details of their brand new studio album, Human.
‘Didn’t I’ is a string heavy anthem which is reminiscent of the band’s earlier material including ‘Apologise’. Detailing a relationship which has ended but was once incredibly special, ‘Didn’t I’ is a song which will resonate with many. It has also been teamed up with a music video which sees the band perform in an empty house which was presumably once full of happy memories.
Speaking about the track on New Music Daily with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, frontman Ryan Tedder said: “So ‘Didn’t I’ came from a place of somebody very dear to me… A couple that got divorced and I’m surrounded… My parents, got divorced, my wife’s parents got divorced. Everybody, you know? We have friends that are going through it right now and I had this idea that when you marry somebody or you choose to be with them, it’s because you’ve had a lot of beautiful moments and somewhere the discord gets in.
“But then once you have the distance, and it does break up, and you do go through that divorce, you still have those moments. You look back and you go, you know what? This ended in a disaster, but weren’t we amazing, when we were amazing? Wasn’t it good? It wasn’t all bad. There was a moment, didn’t I love you? Didn’t we fly? Wasn’t this everything we thought it was, until it wasn’t? And so that’s really what the song’s about.”

‘Didn’t I’ is taken from OneRepublic’s highly anticipated fifth studio album Human, which is due for release on May 8. According to iTunes, the album will feature 16 tracks including the previously released ‘Rescue Me’, ‘Somebody To Love’, and ‘Wanted’.
During their sold out show at the London Palladium last week, Ryan confirmed to fans that they were just about to wrap up work on their new album in the city. Whilst chatting with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, Ryan also shared how they’ve been working on the album in Amsterdam in Martin Garrix’s studio.
The album announcement follows on from the band’s mini tour around Europe, as well as their European autumn tour news, with OneRepublic set to play 25 dates during October and November.
Human is available to pre-order now.
