Strawberry Sangria
Strawberry Sangria – White wine or rosé flavored with fresh strawberries, raspberries, oranges, and homemade strawberry syrup. A beautiful cocktail for spring and summer.
I feel summer on the horizon. Our windows are open, the sun is bright, and I am gazing into our messy, freshly played-in backyard. My kids have been enjoying their water tables, playing mini golf out back, and drawing on the patio with sidewalk chalk. Our planted herbs and citrus trees are flourishing, and my kitchen smells of fragrant strawberries. I love this time of the year. The weather in Arizona is warm, but not yet hot, and we are squeezing in every last bit of beautiful weather before the ensuing heat hits us.
A couple of weeks ago strawberries started arriving in our local grocery stores. They are deep red, juicy, and deliciously fragrant. I have been buying them by the boatload. So, what do you do when you have an abundance of strawberries? You make the best sangria this spring and summer will ever see. Friends, let me introduce you to my new love – Strawberry Sangria.
This sangria is filled with fresh strawberries, raspberries, oranges, homemade strawberry syrup, orange liqueur (if you choose), and the best part of all… SPARKLING ROSÉ!
This sparkling Rosé is an ideal compliment to the flavors and colors in this sangria. I purchased it at Whole Foods, if you want to try the same one. I really liked the fizziness (← technical wine term) that this sparkling variety added to the sangria.
Prefer a non-sparkling wine? Totally fine.
Prefer white wine over rosé? Do it.
I can’t imagine this sangria could be bad.
I foresee many of this summer’s best memories taking place with a glass of this sangria in my hand. Pour yourself a glass or two, sit somewhere sunny and warm, and enjoy every sip of this beauty. I’ll fight you for the last pieces of boozy fruit at the bottom of the pitcher.
