Stacey Freeman: Successful Lifestyle Influencer, Mother, and Educator
Stacey Freeman runs a successful lifestyle blog that covers topics such as fashion, family, travel, and more. On top of that, she also has a full-time job as an educator and is the mom of two school aged kids.
Stacey’s journey grew out of an appreciation for education. Her parents are both retired school teachers, so she always had an interest in educaiton. After working with nonprofit organizations after graduating from college, she went on to earn a a Ph.D. in educational policy. She then became a college administrator and is currently an Executive Director at UCLA.
While working on her Ph.D., she also wanted to grow her family. Having two kids while also working on a Ph.D. was taxing, so she she realized she needed a creative outlet—something that she could do that will help her relax and release her creative energies.
While education was her initial calling, , she has also always been passionate about fashion. She was always the person her friends would go to for r fashion advice. She was also a model with FORD models, so being photographed was something she grew to be comfortable with.
With her love of fashion and desire for a creative outlet, she decided to start a lifestyle blog. She named her blog “Posh in Progress”—as she sees her style and fashion as ever changing.
She went on to expand her platform to TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Pinterest. Her other passions for family, travel, food, and beauty have also found their way into her blog, which has transformed her fashion blog into a lifestyle one.
Although it may seem like a lot to create a blog while also working full-time as a new mom, her blog was the one place she felt like she could truly explore her passions and be herself. However, this drive has not been without challenges. One of the biggest challenges Stacey had to overcome was “mom guilt.” She explains that “trying to grow two careers and having young kids is definitely a challenge. A lot of moms feel like we’re failing if our kids’ childhoods aren’t perfect. We put a lot of pressure on ourselves to ‘do it all.’”
In overcoming “mom guilt,” she advises others to “realize that we can have it all, but not all in the same day. Some days we’ll have to put work aside for our kids. Some days, we’ll have to focus more on work, and we might have to buy store-bought cupcakes instead of making the Pinterest version we saw because we just don’t have the time to make them from scratch.”
She has also found it important to learn to take care of herself. She explains: “…I always prioritize everyone else, but I often struggle to make the time for myself, to take good care of myself, and to speak kindly to myself, so that’s really what I’ve been focusing on a lot more now that I’m older.”
In the future, Stacey plans to not only continue to pursue her career in education but to also grow her lifestyle business and even pursue opportunities as a TV host. She recently appeared on KTLA in Los Angeles.
Overall, Stacey Freeman’s ability to balance three major responsibilities is an example and an inspiration of what can be achieved with hard work and dedication. She has been able to successfully pursue a full-time job in education, run a lifestyle business, and be the mother of two kids.
