For many years, Miley maintained an animal product free diet. "I was vegan for a very long time and I've had to introduce fish and omegas into my life because my brain wasn't functioning properly," she said on The Joe Rogan Experience. She added fish back into her diet and it made a big difference. "Now I'm so much sharper than I was and I think that I was, at one point, pretty malnutritioned," she said. "I remember going to Glastonbury [music festival] and that was a show that I loved—I loved my performance—but I was running on empty." She also started eating gluten again.

Miley does a whopping two hours of Ashtanga yoga daily, she told Billboard. Why should you do yoga? "Researchers found that people who practiced yoga for at least 30 minutes once a week for at least four years, gained less weight during middle adulthood," Harvard Health says. "People who were overweight actually lost weight. Overall, those who practiced yoga had lower body mass indexes (BMIs) compared with those who did not practice yoga. Researchers attributed this to mindfulness. Mindful eating can lead to a more positive relationship with food and eating."

Miley celebrated six months of sobriety in June 2020, but relapsed during the pandemic. "I fell off and I realized that I now am back on sobriety, two weeks sober, and I feel like I really accepted that time," Cyrus told Zane Lowe during an Apple Music's New Music Daily interview. "One of the things I've used is, 'Don't get furious, get curious.' So don't be mad at yourself, but ask yourself, 'What happened?' To me, it was a f—k up because I'm not a moderation person, and I don't think that everyone has to be f—king sober." In an interview with Rolling Stone she said the pandemic triggered her depression and anxiety which led her to drink again and prevented her from making "concrete statements." She also revealed that she would "possibly take mushrooms," and "I did take ayahuasca, and I really, really liked that."

Miley has been doing Pilates since 2013 with Mari Winsor, who maintains she works out for half an hour and does a wide variety of exercises, from sidekicks to ab crunches. According to research, Pilates exercises are designed to increase muscle strength, endurance, and flexibility, and to improve posture and balance. Experts maintain that it is a great workout for leaning out.

Miley also goes on walks and hikes with her seven dogs. "Hiking is one of the best ways to get exercise. No matter what type of trail you find yourself on, hiking is a great whole-body workout—from head to toe and everything in between," says the National Parks Service. Some of the physical benefits include building stronger muscles and bones, improving your sense of balance, improving your heart health, and decreasing the risk of certain respiratory problems. It also offers many mental health benefits, according to a Stanford University study.
